Hey thanks for stopping by...this is a little about me

I always get asked what got me into photography.  Well it has always been an interest and it became more of an obsession when I had my first child.  With a few too many losses in my life I recognize how important something as simple as a moment captured in a photograph can be.  A photograph that can really catch a persons true expression is one that can bring back a memory so vivid that you can hear their laugh or remember a part of their personality.  These qualities can sometimes fade with time.  Then last year on mothers day I realized that some of us seem to always be behind the camera and get left out of  the photograph.  It is just as important for our loved ones to have memories of us as well.  I decided that this passion of photography could grow and I could photograph those families that are always short a person, the one behind the camera.  I absolutely love this part of my life.  It is fun, challenging and so rewarding.  I have had the chance to meet so many great people and be a part of the special memories in their life.  I fully appreciate how precious and important this job is and what an honor it is to be a part of their photographs.

I commit myself only to a select number of events throughout the year so that life is balanced and I am able to offer dedicated attention to my clients as well as my family.  Thank you for taking the the time to get to know a little about me.  I hope you will get in touch so we can talk more about your family events and how we can work together to turn your photo-stories into art.

p.s. leave a comment on my posts...it makes me smile

The Greco Family

I had fun wandering around Bellevue Park with the Greco family.  It was a perfect time to get together for family photos since everyone was in town (and it was Linda’s birthday).  The weather was beautiful and we hit some spots that I haven’t used before which is always fun.  There was a little walking through water and breaking through reeds…nothing too crazy!!  We even had the entire Bellevue lawn cut just for the shoot lol. Thank you for a fun evening.  I hope you enjoy your photos!!

Linda Greco - Eva - Thank you so much. When I opened email this morning I was thrilled - couldn't wait to show them off and can't wait to see the rest of the photos. We are going to have a hard time deciding which ones we are blowing up. I'm going to have a great time scrapping these. Thank you again. The Greco FamilyAugust 10, 2010 - 10:21 pm

Melisa Greco - They are beautiful! Thank you so much for the fun time! Jonathan loves the shout out about the lovely cut grass! ha ha So glad we have these amazing pictures to remind us what really matters in life! xoAugust 10, 2010 - 10:32 pm

Life with you makes perfect sense…

The Aikens Family wanted to take the time to have family photos done in celebration of their daughters first birthday.  From what I got to know of Sonia I imagine there have been a few photos taken over the past year which is wonderful.  Sol is beautiful in smiles, adorable in personality and lucky with her little family.  She is showered with love and attention.  Watching Sol try to maneuver the sand with her walking skills was a cute little comedy show.  She had her face in the sand once or twice.  Overall though she is advanced for just being a year old!!

Now the Petti skirt!!  I had been wanting to have a chance to use one in a shoot for awhile and Sonia showed up with it!!  She apparently shares my love for ‘Etsy’ (hint hint to all those parent that want unique clothing for their children).  Etsy also has great newborn knit hats and also some for the older children which would look great on a fall photo shoot!!

I loved the look of these photos!!  You never know what great looks you will end up with when you have a chance to wander around some beautiful locations.

Thanks for a great evening!!  Lil Solana is beautiful!!!

Sonia - Wow Eva! These pictures turned out phenomenal! Thank you so much for catching these memories for us! We had such a great day as a family, and can't wait to hang these picture on our walls! We'll cherish them forever!August 9, 2010 - 9:21 am

Brothers | Best friends

Okay these two little guys are so cute.  Babe has the most perfect skin and features.  Big brother has the brightest blue eyes and pouty lips ever.  Watch out girls.  We got some quick shots of the two brothers and then the oldest went down the road to the park with dad.  Babe was cooperative to work with.  His mom had arranged for this shoot while she was still pregnant and so we had a chance to get him in at perfect timing, 7 days old.  What is so nice is that I will get to see these boys grow over the year as there will be shots at 3 months, 9 months and a year.  Next session will probably have some outdoor shots and will be a nice time in the early fall.  This will work well for them for Holiday photos also.

Speaking of, and please don’t be mad.  The fall season is just around the corner and I am already booking into that time.  In September I only have a couple of dates available.  If you will want family shots for the Holidays start thinking now.  I also offer customized prints/products.  This could be one less thing for you to worry about at a busy time of the year.  Just email or call if you would like to look into a photo session.

Thanks guys…will see you at the end of summer!!

Life is a Fairy Tale

The Magli’s shoot extended from one into two.  As a parent it is easy to see when children have won.  Well I am glad that these two cuties wanted to play so much that we chose to meet up on another day to finish the session.  Part 1 of the shoot was in-studio.  Part 2 was at Pointe Des Chenes.  Amazingly enough we were the only ones on the beach.  The girls got to dance, pick flowers and skip rocks.  Of course little babe didn’t get to do all of those fun things but she looked like she was having a great time anyway.  I love the outdoor shots where you can see the natural movements of children.  You can look back and remember the way the moved and laughed.  When I was leaving they were going to finish off their morning with a picnic.  Now that is the way I see my style of photography.  Not only was it a time to get some family photos.  It turned into a day where a family played, spent time together and will have a great memory associated with their family photos.

Thanks for such a great time guys!!  You have three beautiful girls – enjoy!!!

Lindsay - It was a great day for our family Eva. Thanks for making the photo session so much fun. I'm thrilled with the photos and am in the process of trying to pic my favourites. You have such a talent... thank you!August 2, 2010 - 10:57 pm

The Oneill Family | Train Run!!!!

Rebooked and rebooked…finally nice weather!!  I met the Oneill family down by the Soo Locks.  A great place so that the Oneill’s could run around and play.  Candon sure did run…away from me anyway with a little grin on his face every time.  The funny thing is is that generally the one running away from the camera ends up with some of the best shots.  Also, Candon you can’t run from me, I have two boys I keep up with so I have lot’s of practice.  Avery was a little sweetheart and loved getting her picture taken.  I also have to mention that Michael has to win awards for most involved father since I started this gig.  Take lessons all you guys!!  And Jamie…what can I say.  Thanks for putting up with the weather.  It was meant to be.  We had some nice weather and got some fun shots (all 208 you get to go through lol).

We went from the old house and made our way to the train tracks.  This is a little like how it went.  ”Okay kids you play over there while mommy & daddy get some shots done.  Hey guys why don’t you sit there on the tracks.  Wait what is that orange thing behind you guys?  TRAIN   RUN!!!!  We each had either a kid or a dog.  Looking back on it we had lot’s of time but a bit of an adrenaline rush anyway.  There is always a story after a shoot.  That is part of the fun.  Thanks for being so great guys.  Enjoy…

Jamie-Lynn - THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! These pics. turned out fabulous and I can't wait to see the rest. They are definitely something we will treasure for a lifetime as moments captured in time! Props to my hubby for being so patient, fun and accomodating in SO many ways. Avery, Candon and I truly are blessed. And you're right, I think one of my absolute favs. is Candon's collage(smug, little bugger). LOL Avery giggled at the one of Michael and I looking at her, and Candon running away to the right. Your patience and willingness to try anything was grately appreciated. You definitely have an eye for great pics. This is the beginning of special friendship. We'll be back!! Thanks Again, The O'Neill Family :0)June 30, 2010 - 9:58 pm

Dad | I miss you…

My dad had a laugh that made you laugh. Even if you didn’t know the story, you would laugh with him. Every summer I coast through Father’s day. It is better now that my son’s take over with Mike. But for me it is bittersweet. I would think of my dad on Father’s day knowing that less than a week away I would then be dealing with the anniversary he was taken from us. Because I choose to live a hectic life I woke up this morning to the usual everyday craziness. And as I am cleaning up peanut butter off of Damian’s highchair, wondering who decided to make this stuff so difficult…must not have had children. I look over at Damian. He is bouncing to music on the floor and singing into a microphone…well a little more like a high pitched scream. I thought, my dad would have loved him so much. Hey, wait…what is the date today? The 25th… My dad died at the age of 40, I was 18. Unfair? Yes. But my work as a Mental Health Nurse has reinforced every day for me how lucky I was to have such great 18 years with him. We aren’t all as lucky to have such a supportive community of family and friends. My dad was a definite small town character. He had a huge heart like most people on Manitoulin Island do. He wasn’t just a neighbor or a friend but he became like family with most people he met. He shared stories that are still passed on today. He is my hero. He lived his life with warmth, kindness and love. I miss you dad. You would have loved your boys…they love you and so do I. Mike sends you flowers on this day each year from Matteo and Damian. He never got to meet you but has heard so many stories from your friends and has gotten to know you well that way.

It has been my path in life that has led me to photography. I have a passion to stop a moment in time. I am honored each time I am asked to take photos of those unforgettable times…new baby, wedding or just a day at the beach playing as a family. I know how precious those photos can be. Thank you for letting me in on those moments.

Bev - you will forever be the princess in your daddy's eyes, he would be so proud of all of your accomplishments the life you have made for your self and the boy's well I am sure they would have had the time of there life with their grampa. Thru you they will learn the life's lesson's he left with us all and for that they will forever be greatful to have had such a wonderful person in thier life. Remember always be strong and enjoy every day you rise, as it is the first day of the rest of our life.. momJune 30, 2010 - 10:44 am

Mya | sometimes the smallest thing…takes up the most room in your heart

Mya is definitely a precious little princess.  She is lucky enough to be the center of attention, her family loves every second of her.  She came with outfits,  Uggs and cute little flowered hats.  And she thought she should spit up on each one.  Mya was in three different outfits in the first five minutes and me well I only had to change once…a little baby pee down the leg never hurt anyone right lol.  Good thing I am a mom and a nurse and used to just about anything.  When we knew Mya was done with her first model shoot in my studio (that is right – my living room lol) we headed down to Bellevue Park.  It was such a nice day and I wanted to get some shots down by the water.  The wind had other ideas though.  I should have know better considering I did grew up on the water.  The beautiful flowers were done by A Thymely Affair.  Rosetta, Ma, Stacey and Jenn from A Thymely Manner have been a part of my family for about 8 years now.  I worked for them through Nursing and they are still a big part of my life.  The cute little grey and pink knit hat came from ‘Maddie Lou Beanies‘.  She does awesome work.  Can’t wait to get one for a little boy (maybe not pink and grey).  It was great getting to know you Mya and Krista…hope you enjoy.

krista - everytime I look at these I cry...Eva you are amazing...thank you for everything!! Anyone in need of someone to take pics..call Eva she is out of this world!!!June 20, 2010 - 10:49 am

Saija | “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” – Roald Dahl

I have really learned in this past year that you are in charge of your destiny.  Of course some things are just meant to be.  But if you are not searching for more – ‘magic’ just won’t happen.  I spend so much time researching, learning, photographing and editing and you know what I love every sleepless moment of it.  I get a little too excited when I am blurting out twenty ideas at once – right Erin.  It is almost embarrasing the energy that I get from my photography.  I talk a mile a minute when I talk about the photo proofs, print options and what products would be just right for gifts or to keep.

One thing I do is make a photobook for each of my children’s birthdays and another at Christmas.  I order one copy for Mike & I and another for each of my children to keep.  This way when they go out on there own they will have a wonderful collection of photos all nicely laid out in books.  Anyway, when these ideas are overwhelming my mind I must appear quite disorganized to those I am talking to – again right Erin haha.

Erin and John have their first new babe – Saija.  The name is beautiful and she is even more so.  She is a girly girl with her dainty little features. She has parents that so obviously adore her and they will make a wonderful little family.  I am so happy for you and thank you so much for letting me in on the first part of your life together.

To Saija ::

“Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the

greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.

Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it. “

-  Roald Dahl
